Who we are
Sonir Bench and Sonir Remote (together, “the software”) are built and run by the independent developer nadai. The contact for this policy and for anything about how data is handled is [email protected]. More about the developer is on nadai.dev.
The short version
The software needs no account and we run no server for it. Audio is processed on your own computer and phone. We do not collect, receive or store your audio, your measurements or your designs.
Sonir Bench (macOS)
- Playback it receives: Bench processes the audio sent to its virtual audio device in memory and passes it to your DAC. It never writes that audio to a file.
- Files on your computer: your DSP designs and settings are saved in Bench’s folder on your computer. You can manage and delete them yourself.
- Microphone permission: macOS treats input from a virtual audio device as a microphone, so Bench needs this permission to receive playback. If you measure with a microphone, that input is analyzed on your computer and not saved as audio.
- Local network: only when you turn on the connection for Sonir Remote, Bench accepts connections on your local network, protected by a token shown in its QR code. This traffic stays inside your network and does not pass through our servers.
- AI assistants: Bench does not connect to any AI service. If you copy Bench’s specification or results into an AI assistant yourself, what you share is handled under that provider’s policy, not ours.
- Bench does not include analytics, advertising or automatic update checks.
Sonir Remote (iOS / Android)
- Microphone: used to record the measurement sweep. The recording is turned into an impulse response and a frequency response on the phone, and the recording itself is not kept.
- Camera: used only to read the QR code Bench shows. The image is decoded on the phone; no photos or videos are taken or saved.
- Local network: used to connect to Bench on your network. The phone sends Bench only filter settings (the PEQ), never the recording.
- Stored on the phone: the measurements you keep (impulse response, frequency response, name and date), the calibration files you load, and the address of the Bench you last connected to. None of this is sent anywhere. You can delete measurements one by one, and deleting the app removes everything.
- Remote does not include analytics or advertising.
Crash reports
We do not embed third-party crash reporting. If you have enabled diagnostic sharing in your operating system, crash information may be sent to Apple or Google under their policies.
This website
sonir.app uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. As part of how any website is delivered, our hosting provider may briefly process access information such as your IP address. Fonts are served from sonir.app itself, so opening a page does not connect your browser to any other font service.
Your rights
If you live in the EU or the UK, the GDPR and UK GDPR give you the right to access, correct and delete information about you, and to restrict or object to its processing. We hold no personal information about you, and everything the software keeps is on your own devices, where you can delete it at any time. If anything is unclear, write to [email protected].
Children
The software is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as features or laws change. For significant changes we will update the date on this page and let you know where we reasonably can.
